FCA Footprint in Land of Tar Heels

North Carolina basketball legend Dean Smith was in his third year as the Tar Heels’ head coach when this photo was snapped in November, 1963. Smith was a part of many Fellowship of Christian Athletes National Conferences and camps during his coaching career, and has been a strong supporter of FCA for many decades. A legend not only in North Carolina but in the history of basketball, Smith led UNC to national championships in 1982 and 1993 and 11 Final Four appearances. A four-time national coach of the year, he also coached the United States to a gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games.
